Hi, I experienced a very similar error message (different ports/names but the exception was the same) this morning. Turns out my Spark Thrift server was down...It may have been overkill, but through the web interface I chose the option to 'Start All' services as shown in the screenshot below and it worked...There's probably a more elegant way to do this, but hard to argue with results:
